Founded in 1956 as Mike’s Subs at the Jersey Shore in 1956 and franchised in 1987, Jersey Mikes has a well-established tradition of making among the finest and highest quality submarine sandwiches to be found in New Jersey. This location in Warren Township, NJ is located in a one-story shopping plaza. AEP was hired to convert the 1,200 gross sf former jewelry store into a Jersey Mike’s sub shop. The suite required full Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design and engineering. AEP worked closely with the franchisee, architect and town officials to see the project through from conceptual design to the permitting process. Special attention was placed on the balance of the makeup air, cooling and heating air and ventilation air requirements of the space which is essentially a small commercial kitchen. The HVAC system consists of a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) AC system consisting of an indoor evaporator/air handler and an outdoor condensing unit. An inline fan dedicated to bringing in fresh outside air provides ventilation and supplementary makeup air for the exhaust hoods. The exhaust hoods are provided with makeup air from an indirect-fired gas makeup unit which delivers tempered air into the space during the winter season via an integrated makeup air supply duct on the exhaust hood.
